Janelle Monae concert at The Greek Theatre!

Happy humpday lovely people!

I realized I never posted my outfit from the Janelle Monae concert I went to a few weeks ago so here it is!

It was amazing seeing Janelle Monae in person because she is a great performer and her new album, Dirty Computer, is so empowering.

It touches on topics such as love, racism, sexuality, America, and so much more. It was my first time going to the Greek Theatre, here in Los Angeles.

It’s an outdoor venue set up where the stage is in the middle of the venue. Below is a sunset above the theatre.

My outfit for the concert was definitely fun and colorful since I know Janelle Monae loves unique and outside-of-the-box looks.

I wore a baby blue, Free People bralette, paired with FashionNova black jeans and yellow Birkenstocks. For my accessories, I wore blue and gold hoop earrings. To complete the look I wore a rainbow cardigan, also from FashionNova, over the bralette.

I also tried out blue-gray lipstick which was a big step outside of my comfort zone, but I think it was a perfect addition to my look.

I was dancing and singing all night and even ending up losing my voice, that’s how you know it was a lot of fun 🙂

Next time your favorite musician is performing at The Greek Theatre in Los Angeles, definitely try to go. It’s a great concert hall!

Paris Fashion Week Inspired Photoshoot

In honor of Paris Fashion Week (pfw), since I can’t physically be there i had my own pfw inspired photoshoot.

It’s still warm for Fall here in Baltimore so I went with a summery look under a jacket that is perfect for Fall weather.

My crop top is from an online designer named Rhiverxx. The shirt says Melanin Goddess which I love because it embraces my love for being a beautiful, strong, black woman.

The croptop is lightweight and has a racerback. I also love it because, as you may not notice from the pictures, I can go braless while wearing it!

Paired with my top I wore black shorts with a white floral print. I purchased them from Forever 21 on sale for only like 5 bucks!! A great deal if I do say so myself.

The sandals that I am wearing are from Payless, an affordable store with some stylish shoes!

The duster/bomber jacket is from the lovely Zendaya’s clothing line, Daya by Zendaya. This rose gold color was definitely on trend this summer so I wouldn’t be surprised to see it make its way into fall clothing as well.

Since I was channeling paris fashion week vibes, I tried out a few different poses and angles and I think the shoot turned out quite well.

Sometimes you have to imagine yourself in the environment you eventually want to be in at some point in your life. Just because you couldn’t make something happen this year doesn’t mean give up on your dreams or goals.

I’ll be at Paris Fashion Week one day, whether modeling clothes, being a stylist for the models, hosting the backstage action or the show itself, or maybe being one of the designers. I may not be exactly sure where I will end up, but I know my future is bright.

Keep envisioning yourself where you want to be. Live life to the fullest. I believe in you!

Tropical Sundress on a Sunday

Happy Sunday!

Hope everyone enjoyed their weekend, I’ve worked the entire weekend unfortunately, but I did get a chance to go to a baby shower and take the fab pictures seen in this post.

I love dresses because they are breezy, flirty, and super comfortable. In the front this tropical floral print dress looks like any other traditional sundress, but in the back is where all the fun is!

The straps, even though they are very hard to put on lol, give this look an edgy side. And they are adjustable so you can make them as long or short as you need to.

Stripes and Curves

Last weekend, I wore a striped bodycon dress to my little brother’s graduation. It was an exciting event!

I paired my bodycon dress with rust orange sandals. I love this dress because the colors are great year round and the pattern makes it unique.

Not only are those factors true, but I think the dress is quite flattering. Bodycon dresses are meant to be fitted and show off your curves.

Don’t be ashamed to wear fitted dresses and don’t let anyone tell you you can’t wear one because of your body shape!

We all have body insecurities and parts of us we may not like as much as others. Embrace your curves, love your body, and stay stylish!

My First Professional Photoshoot!

Can you believe that we are almost halfway through October already? I feel like Christmas and 2017 will be here before we know it!

Today’s post will be in more of a lookbook style. I recently did a photoshoot which went well.

Korean Cap for a Casual Day

It’s been over 2 years since I went to Seoul, South Korea to study abroad and I am ashamed to say I only wore this beautiful baseball cap I purchased there about 3 or 4 times since then.

But today I decided to dust it off and rock it in one of my more casual looks. I really haven’t worn the cap because I never know how to wear it!

I always dress up girly or preppy and never felt that the cap would look great with the outfits I’ve worn in the past. Recently, I went to Forever 21 and purchased 2 plain t-shirts, one olive green and one burgundy.

Once I purchased these casual tees, I knew that I could wear my cap with one of them. My cap is white and has a floral pattern in shades of orange, red and green and the brim of it is bright orange.

I paired my cap with my olive green shirt, white high waist shorts, and dusty orange sandals. I am really proud of myself for rocking this look because I rarely ever dress casual!

I feel like this look is something I can do over and over again and not get tired of it. Not only is it simple and chic, it is also super comfy and easy to chillax in.

And yes, these shots in the post are shameless bathroom selfies, minus the shot of my sandals lol

New Twists, Old Romper

Good morning beautiful people ❤

It finally seems like the warm weather is here to stay in Baltimore! I recently got twists in my hair as a protective style to help my hair grow.

On the first of August or the end of July I will take them out and hopefully my fro will have grown a lot.

Since the weather is so pretty, I decided to wear one of y favorite clothing items, my lightweight blue and white patterned romper.

The romper is not only stylish and comfortable, it is also really cool so I do not overheat while wearing it even if the sun is shining down on me. I paired my romper with black sandals and my usual pearl bracelets.

In one photo I am in front of a big bush with beautiful pink flowers and in the other picture posted I am in my friend’s room, trying to do a model-esque shot 🙂

Spring Essentials!

The weather is getting warmer here in Maryland and actually staying warm! I am so excited that I can walk outside without layers.

Spring is definitely in the air! So here’s a list of essential items you need for this lovely spring weather ^-^

Sundresses

Sundresses are perfect for warmer weather because they are usually made from lightweight fabric and are loose fitting. These dresses are feminine, flirty and come in a variety of styles and patterns. Colorful, floral prints are perfect patterns for the spring because you will match the beautiful flowers that are starting to blossom. Sundresses can be worn with flip flops for a more casual look or pair the dress with heels or wedges for a classier look.

Sandals

There are a numerous options to choose from when you are trying to find the perfect spring sandal. There are gladiator sandals, which go all the way to your knee and you lace them up. There’s also ankle strap sandals which usually have sometime of buckle around the ankle to keep the sandal on. If you like traditional sandals better, you can always wear the classic open thong sandals which are pretty much more sophisticated flip flops. Perfect sandal colors for the spring are pastel colors such as light pink, yellow, and blue or different shades of tan/brown.

Sunglasses

Since the weather is becoming beautiful again, we can all expect a lot of sun. Sunglasses not only protect your eyes from harmful sun rays, but they also make you look super stylish. These glasses are worn more as a fashion trends nowadays. There are so many styles and shapes too choose from such as round, cat eye, oval, and butterfly shaped. Sunglasses are perfect for days at the beach, but can also be worn on sunny days when you are just taking a stroll in a park.

 Shorts

Shorts are perfect for the girls who don’t really like dresses or skirts, but still want to be cool on a warm spring day. Whether it’s Bermuda shorts, gym shorts, cut-off shorts, or culotte shorts, all of them work perfectly for the spring. Shorts also come in a variety of colors and patterns such as denim, plaid, khaki and even floral. You can pair shorts with a tank top, a loose-fitting blouse, a crop top, or even a bandeau top. Add sandals to that look and you will have lovely and fashion-forward spring outfit.

Hats

The best hat styles for spring are oversized floppy hats, colorful fedoras, and straw hats. These hats are perfect for spring because they can block out the sun, are lightweight, and add a pop of color and style to any outfit. You can pair these hats with shorts and a tank top or even a sundress. If you really want to step outside of the box and try something new, try wearing a cute, patterned baseball cap. Add the cap to a white top, cut off shorts, and Converses to create a chic, but edgier look.
