Mulling over Mules

Mules for a Monday! Yes, I have given into the mule trend, but it’s a stylish fashion statement.

These red mules are from Topshop and add a great POP of color to any outfit. In case you have no idea what I’m talking about, mules are slip-on shoes that are taking the fashion world by storm.

They come in different types of fabrics such as leather and suede. Some also come adorned with buckles, fur, or pearls. Heeled mules are also just as trendy as flat mules!

The ones I am wearing are called the Angelina Flat Mule, made from real leather, and are a deeper shade of red. I paired them with a striped Lush wrap dress purchased at Nordstrom!

The dress has a snap button closure at the chest to avoid being too lowcut and a string belt to tie around and cinch your waist.

Since the dress is so colorful, you can easily match it with almost any color shoes. I also recently purchased my first watch ever, a simple Brass Plum marble watch with faux leather straps.

The great thing about this dress and the mules are their versatility. I could easily throw a blazer over this dress with a nice pair of pumps and have a decent interview outfit. I can also kick off the heels and blazer and add some Converses for a fun day in the park.

I could wear the mules with a dress like I did today or with a tshirt and jeans for a more casual look. To me, purchasing clothing that is versatile is the best fashion tip I can offer.

I Made A YouTube Channel!

Happy Friday lovelies!

The weather is beautiful, I’ve been keeping busy with work and focusing on some of my goals!

One of my goals that I finally achieved was starting a youtube channel. Since I want to be a fashion correspondent, I need some “on-air” experience so a Youtube channel is the perfect way to get some!

On my channel I plan on discussing hair, beauty, fashion, and lifestyle, similar to what I discuss right here on Coral Buttons.

I hope that my channel gets me one step closer to fulfilling that fashion reporter dream and not only that, I also hope that my channel can be a source of encouragement to anyone who needs it.

I plan to include positive, inspirational, and uplifting messages in every video! Only one video is up for now, but don’t worry more fun and fashionable videos are in the future.

Fashionable & Fun Photoshoot. Enjoy the Sunshine!

The spring days in Baltimore have been beautiful! Since it was warm and sunny this past Sunday I decided to do a fun photoshoot.

Right after church Shawn (my boyfriend for all of my new readers ^-^) and I went to a casual and simple locations and the pics are below:

I really loved this photoshoot because it was untraditional and not constructed. I just wanted to let loose and embrace the sunshine.

From the very start of 2017, I’ve been trying to focus a lot on my goals for the future, especially a few big ones I have for this year alone.

Sometimes spending so much time planning and preparing can get overwhelming and stressful. That’s why I felt that this photoshoot was so meaningful.

I wasn’t stressed or worried about what tasks I need to do in the next week. I was just outside in the moment and enjoying the sun.

Take some time this week to just step outside and feel the sun in your face. Your goals and plans will still be there, let loose and have some fun!

Breaking Fashion Rules!

Good morning everyone and happy almost weekend! Today I want to focus on a topic that I am really passionate about: breaking fashion rules.

I am sure that you’ve heard one, some, or all of these rules listed below:

1) Dont wear white after labor day
2) Don’t mix prints or patterns
3) Sequins or sparkle is only for nighttime
4) Everyone should have *insert item here* in their wardrobe

If I had a way to delete these fashion rules and others from our society I would! I recently wore the outfit pictured in this post which “broke” one of the rules: mixing prints.

Both my top and skirt were tribal print but different variations of it. Some people would literally freak out over that, but I don’t.

Fashion is all about creating your own style and being original. So when I wear a black and white crop top with a seafoam green skirt, both with patterns on them, I should feel stylish and chic and not have to worry about breaking rules.

I paired this look with black heels because of the black in my top, and I felt that it truly tied the look together. I want to encourage you to break these fashion rules and others on a daily basis.

If you want to wear white after labor day, do so, white is a great color to wear as jeans, tops, shoes and even accessories. Sequins and sparkle are perfectly fine any time of the day whether you are just going out for a walk in the park, to work, or out to party.

Also, don’t worry about that one item everyone should have in their wardrobe because you don’t want to dress like everyone else. Have items in your closet that you love.

New Hair, Blogoversary, and More!!!

Hello wonderful ladies and gentlemen! I’ve missed you all ❤

Sorry I’ve been away for a little while. My last semester of college is very busy and packed with things to do such as my 2 internships, 6 classes, and working!

But I am making it and am almost done college…yay! Sooo much has happened over these past few weeks!

In case you didn’t notice, I don’t know how you couldn’t have 😛 But Coral Buttons got a few lovely changes. I celebrated my one year Blogoversary on September 17th…congrats to Coral Buttons!!! *fireworks, balloons, cake*

So in honor of my Blogoversary I decided to update my blog a little bit to keep things fresh, new, funky, and chic!

Also, last weekend I got a new hairstyle that I never had before! I got extensions in a style called Marley Twists.

The twists are so lightweight and easy to manage and I think they look super adorable. My hair is up in a bun with half of the twists hanging down in the back.

Recently, I just took out the bun, so pictures of that to come soon! I also got a new clothing item that I would love to show off to my gorgeous readers called a cape.

In the picture you see the light coral colored cape. Literally, you throw the cape over anything and it adds a fancier feel to it.

For church this past Sunday I wore my cape over a fitted black dress with a colorful flower pattern on it. I paired this outfit with black ankle booties.

Shout out to one of my internships, Velvet Lounge, for showing me about this lovely new clothing item. Another shout out to me little brother who always plays the photographer role for my photos you see here on Coral Buttons 🙂

Graduation Fever!

I am sorry for not blogging as much as usual! I am out of school for summer and I am currently working, interning, and trying to relax as well!

Don’t worry, I didn’t forget about Coral Buttons and I will try to post as much as I can! As you can see from the title, I have Graduation Fever!

All over social media I see graduation pictures, whether it’s from high school or college, it is still an awesome and super special occasion. My own high school graduation was almost three years ago (seems so unreal!) and my college graduation is next May.

I am super excited about graduating, of course, but I am also excited about decorating my graduation cap! I’ve seen so many beautiful, creative, and funny designs and I really can’t wait until I can design my own cap.

I really love this cap because Jeremiah 29:11 is my favorite scripture. It is motivational, inspirational, and a perfect scripture to have on a grad’s cap.

Bling & Bow Cap

This cap is perfect for girly girls and people who love bling and flashy jewelry. The colors are super pretty and this cap is one of the most stylish and fashionable ones I saw!
