Floral Maxi Dress and Marley Twists

Hey hey! Today I wanted to showcase a new dress and a new hairstyle. As I mentioned in my last post here, I love dresses!

Maxi dresses, like the floral one I am wearing above, are so stylish along with being super comfortable. You can wear maxi dresses and flats for a casual, errand day or pair it with heels for a chic, brunch outfit.

I decided to pair mine with flats for a more casual look. This floral maxi was a great deal at Nordstrom Rack for only $12!

I love shopping at the Rack because the deals are so great and it helps that I get an employee discount too. My flats are from Nordstrom, my only issue with them are that they get dirty so quick because they are white. During the summer time, I definitely plan on wearing this dress with cute sandals.

On this past Monday, I decided to do my hair. I love red hair on me. I’ve even considered dying my natural hair red because I love it so much, but that will happen later in life.

I’ve done red braids before, but this was my first time doing red twists. Besides how they look, the main difference between braids and twists are how many pieces of hair you use. To form a braid, you use three strands of hair and to form a twist you use two strands of hair.

Once I get a video camera, I will showcase how I do my protective styles (braids and twists). Be warned, it is time-consuming. These twists took me 8 hours to do, but once you get the hang of it its fun and definitely worth while.

My twists allow me to give my natural hair a break and it’s a cute, new hairstyle. What’s your go to dress style? What hairstyle are you currently rocking? Let me know in the comments below!

And I will leave you with this quote my boyfriend and I came up with today as inspiration to help you get through your week:

Flowers bloom even in darkness. So even if you feel like there is no light in your life right now, you can still bloom in your dark place. You are a flower 💐

Mulling over Mules

Mules for a Monday! Yes, I have given into the mule trend, but it’s a stylish fashion statement.

These red mules are from Topshop and add a great POP of color to any outfit. In case you have no idea what I’m talking about, mules are slip-on shoes that are taking the fashion world by storm.

They come in different types of fabrics such as leather and suede. Some also come adorned with buckles, fur, or pearls. Heeled mules are also just as trendy as flat mules!

The ones I am wearing are called the Angelina Flat Mule, made from real leather, and are a deeper shade of red. I paired them with a striped Lush wrap dress purchased at Nordstrom!

The dress has a snap button closure at the chest to avoid being too lowcut and a string belt to tie around and cinch your waist.

Since the dress is so colorful, you can easily match it with almost any color shoes. I also recently purchased my first watch ever, a simple Brass Plum marble watch with faux leather straps.

The great thing about this dress and the mules are their versatility. I could easily throw a blazer over this dress with a nice pair of pumps and have a decent interview outfit. I can also kick off the heels and blazer and add some Converses for a fun day in the park.

I could wear the mules with a dress like I did today or with a tshirt and jeans for a more casual look. To me, purchasing clothing that is versatile is the best fashion tip I can offer.

What’s a great fashion tip someone gave you? Did you fall in love with the mule trend?

A Pep Talk with Yourself

I felt like dressing up a bit today so I went with this professional-chic look.

20171003_100436

I paired a black pinstripe blazer with a black fit and flare dress, and black booties. Yes, it’s a lot of black but is still chic and simple.

I prefered keeping the blazer unbuttoned to show off the dress more. These ankle booties are definitely on trend for fall this year along with embroidered booties and thigh high boots.

Todays outfit made me think of the quote, “dress for the job you want, not the job you have.”

With a huge change coming at the end of this month, I’ve been thinking a lot about goals and what I want to achieve in life.

20171003_100405

Wearing this outfit made me feel empowered, strong, and like I can achieve anything I set my mind too.

Every once in a while you have to have a pep talk with yourself to get you motivated and inspired again. I hope this read made you want to chase after your goals full force.

Fresh & Fulfilled February

Happy 2nd day of February everyone! Can you believe that one month of 2017 has already gone by? It’s amazing!ff2

Are you all sticking to your New Year’s Resolutions so far or achieving all the goals you set for yourself? Hopefully you are and if you need a little push, I believe in you! 🙂

I came into 2017 focused on my future, planning, career, relationships, and of course my goals.

Recently, I decided to set small, progressive goals for every week in February and possibly even after this month. I am doing this because goal setting is important, keeps you balanced and on track, and it definitely feels great when you achieve them!
ff1This weeks goal was to focus on self-love and take extra care of my body. As you mightve seen in my previous blog post here, I made a smoothie which was delicious, healthy, and great for my body.

I also did a cleansing facial wash which was relaxing, refreshing, and left my skin feeling super soft and smooth. Sometimes you have to take time to focus on your body and just love yourself a little extra!

Would you be willing to give the weekly goal setting challenge a try? Leave a comment below and let me know!

Enjoy your weekend lovelies ❤

Hello Fall, Goodbye Summer!

Yesterday was the first day of fall for 2016 ! Fall is my second favorite season after spring. I get to wear over-sized sweaters, warm patterned leggings, and break out the cute boots I haven’t seen since last winter.

Instead of an outfit shot today, I put together a little fall mood board. This is just a few things that gets me excited and inspired for the fall.

fall-moodboard

Fall trees: the red and orange trees signify change is coming and change is a positive and neceesary thing. I am welcoming change this fall.

Lipstick: you have to pamper yourself every once in a while. I don’t wear makeup often but when I do, gorgeous lipstick is a must. And this color is perfect for fall.

Sweater and booties: helps you stay warm and walk through all of the storms and chilly weather fall brings. And look stylish while doing it!

Cookies and a warm drink: makes me think about being cozy and comfortable. Every once in a while you have to take a step back from your busy life and enjoy the little things.

I hope my moodboard is as motivational and inspirational to you as it is to me. Try creating one of your own and let me know how it goes! ❤

New Twists, Old Romper

Good morning beautiful people ❤IMG_20160609_132626

It finally seems like the warm weather is here to stay in Baltimore! I recently got twists in my hair as a protective style to help my hair grow.

On the first of August or the end of July I will take them out and hopefully my fro will have grown a lot.

Since the weather is so pretty, I decided to wear one of y favorite clothing items, my lightweight blue and white patterned romper.

IMG_20160609_141204The romper is not only stylish and comfortable, it is also really cool so I do not overheat while wearing it even if the sun is shining down on me. I paired my romper with black sandals and my usual pearl bracelets.

In one photo I am in front of a big bush with beautiful pink flowers and in the other picture posted I am in my friend’s room, trying to do a model-esque shot 🙂

I hope you are enjoying the weather wherever you are. Remember to keep your head held high and stay positive! ❤

Living Healthier

For at least a few months now, I have been trying to eat, drink, and overall, live healthier.

That requires drinking a lot more water than I normally would, eating healthier snacks, and cutting out greasy and super sugary items. (I know it sounds terrible lol) I think my journey is going well and it can only get better.

Today I went into Whole Foods, a store I’ve been meaning to check out for a while now. They call themselves “Americas Healthiest Grocery Store,” and I have to agree. Walking in you see recycling bins everywhere, brown paper bags and even the smell of it is healthy.

All of the items I saw were packaged in earthy looking bags in shades of browns and greens. Enough fangirling over the store now!

I brought a kale Caesar salad with salmon in it and a peach smoothie. It was a great meal 🙂
I really want to get into some dance classes, yoga classes, or start regularly exercising on my own. That’s the next step in my healthy living journey.

Even if you aren’t as healthy or as fit as you wish to be, remember to love yourself and your body and to always be positive because you are gorgeous! ❤
