California Crop Top

Can you believe that September is almost over and in a few days it will be the first day of fall!? It’s crazy because in LA it still feels like summertime.

It’s been consistently in the 80’s or high 70’s these days. That’s why the outfit shown below is perfect for a sunny, September day.

20180906_143059

I wore a blue crop top with the word California on it, adorbly decorated with flowers and butterflies. I paired my crop top with denim cut-off shorts and yellow Vans to accent the flowers in my top.

My top is $15 from Topshop, my shorts were $20 from Forever 21 and my Vans were a gift!

20180906_143010

I recently realized that I don’t smile often in my pictures, so I made the decision to smile during every photosession from now on. I can have more serious photos taken as well, but I want to make sure I get a few smiling shots in the mix since it is outside of my comfort zone.

I love my smile, but for some reason I just don’t feel like I photograph well when I’m smiling, so I want to break down that wall I have on myself and challenge myself to embrace my smile more in pictures.

I posted the pictures featured in this post on IG @coralbuttons, so if you follow me you saw my caption saying: “Smile more, #lifeisgood” and it’s true so smile and make the most out of your day everybody!

Teal Takeover

I’m excited for today’s post because I get to talk about my favorite color, teal!

In case you have no idea what teal is, it’s a gorgeous shade of blue-green.

20180724_134615

I love teal because it looks great on literally everything. Teal clothes, jewelry, shoes, even hair, are all gorgeous.

My OOTD is a lovely, teal and floral crop top paired with teal cropped trousers and white flats. I love the sleeves of this top because it resembles the ones seen on a kimono.

20180724_134417(0)

This top was an affordable $17 from Nordstrom! My trousers were $20 from ASOS and have a side zipper which I love much more than the traditional front zipper and button combo.

My flats are also from Nordstrom and cost around $25. I love the bow detail on them!

20180724_134610

Teal is just one of those colors I feel looks great on me! It’s the perfect shade to match my complexion and hair.

What’s your favorite color and how do you think it looks on you? Let me know in the comments below and have a lovely week!

Exploring Santa Monica

Before I get into my Santa Monica exploration, I wanted to say Happy May!

I can’t believe its already been 6, going on 7 months since I’ve been living in LA. I decided that May, and going forward, I want to take more time to explore what California has to offer me!

Since Santa Monica Pier is a hotspot, I made that my first exploration spot for May. Santa Monica is lined with cool shops and restaurants, a lovely beach and the pier full of rides, food spots, and attractions.

20180504_12350720180504_122655

The view from the pier is so amazing!

20180504_143330

My boyfriend, friends, and I walked the boardwalk and admired the ocean view. We rode the ferris wheel and also ate at Bubba Gump’s; it was my first time ever eating there and it was delicious.

We didn’t swim, but we definitely enjoyed the water and sand on our feet.

20180504_12494420180504_164004

I paired a bathing suit top, worn as a crop top, with shorts from Forever 21 and bright yellow Birkenstocks I got from Nordstrom.

It was a perfect beach day outfit. I definitely recommend visiting Santa Monica Pier if you are vacationing to Los Angeles or California.

Have a beautiful day everyone!

Green is my color for 2018!

Happy Friday lovelies!

Hope you had a great week and I hope you are still going strong with Motivational March. I’ve recently fallen in love with the color green and noticed that a lot of the clothes I’ve been purchasing have been green!

20180309_093747

My friends and coworkers tell me that shades of green such as olive and emerald look great on me, so I am starting to embrace the color. Be prepared to see a lot of green on my blog this year!

For the outfit featured in this post, I paired a green crop top from Forever 21 with a pair of black, ribbed knit flare pants from Topshop.

20180309_093738

I love Topshop because their clothes are super trendy and comfortable. These pants have a lot of stretch in them and makes my legs and booty look great. To finish off my green look, I wore lime hightop converses.

20180309_093722

I would consider this look sporty chic with a dash of cozy. Do you have a color set for your 2018 wardrobe?

20180309_093852

And I didn’t forget today’s goal for day 16 of Motivational March: work towards breaking a bad habit and starting a new good habit!

Tell me what bad habit you are breaking and replacing with a good habit and your color for 2018 in the comments below!

Have a wonderful weekend everyone!

Dressing for a LA Winter

On a beautiful, sunny, winter day in LA I was able to wear this cute streetwear inspired look.

I paired a black dress with a rust colored Topshop hoodie along with colorful Converses.

20180123_120357

It’s funny experiencing winter in LA. Here I wear a light jacket and short dresses and skirts in the middle of winter. Back at my hometown of Baltimore, I would be bundling up in a big coat and preparing for snow!

I decided to pose with some patio lounge chairs and it made for a nice backdrop. The sun definitely helped highlight my facial features and made my hoodie’s color pop.

20180123_120151

The hoodie can also easily be paired with jeans, shorts, or a denim skirt. In a few months apring, my favorite season, will be here and I’ll still be able to rock my hoodie because it is lightweight.

20180123_120429

Speaking of spring approaching, I can’t believe that January will be coming to an end in just a few days! I hope that your 2018 is off to a great start.

Stay focused on your goals and stay stylish. Enjoy your weekend!

Paris Fashion Week Inspired Photoshoot

In honor of Paris Fashion Week (pfw), since I can’t physically be there i had my own pfw inspired photoshoot.

20170929_100931It’s still warm for Fall here in Baltimore so I went with a summery look under a jacket that is perfect for Fall weather.

My crop top is from an online designer named Rhiverxx. The shirt says Melanin Goddess which I love because it embraces my love for being a beautiful, strong, black woman.

20170929_100944

The croptop is lightweight and has a racerback. I also love it because, as you may not notice from the pictures, I can go braless while wearing it!

Paired with my top I wore black shorts with a white floral print. I purchased them from Forever 21 on sale for only like 5 bucks!! A great deal if I do say so myself.

20170929_100810

The sandals that I am wearing are from Payless, an affordable store with some stylish shoes!

The duster/bomber jacket is from the lovely Zendaya’s clothing line, Daya by Zendaya. This rose gold color was definitely on trend this summer so I wouldn’t be surprised to see it make its way into fall clothing as well.

20170929_100830

20170929_100832

Since I was channeling paris fashion week vibes, I tried out a few different poses and angles and I think the shoot turned out quite well.

Sometimes you have to imagine yourself in the environment you eventually want to be in at some point in your life. Just because you couldn’t make something happen this year doesn’t mean give up on your dreams or goals.

20170929_100906

I’ll be at Paris Fashion Week one day, whether modeling clothes, being a stylist for the models, hosting the backstage action or the show itself, or maybe being one of the designers. I may not be exactly sure where I will end up, but I know my future is bright.

Keep envisioning yourself where you want to be. Live life to the fullest. I believe in you!

Enjoy your Sunday lovelies!

Daya by Zendaya Bomber

Hello lovelies!

I apologize for the delay on this look, it was suppose to be up on my blog way sooner but here it is.

I have to say this is one of my favorite looks ever and its super simple to put together and comfortable.

daya 1

I purchased the blush bomber  from Daya by Zendaya. A clothing line started by the outspoken, inspirational, and beautiful Zendaya Coleman.

Not only did I want to support her because she is an amazing role model and a black business owner, but also because I never saw a bomber as chic as this one. Her prices are also affordable!

daya 2

The color is gorgeous and it is long! Leave it zipped for a chic look in itself or if you leave it open its a perfect jacket to throw over almost anything…dresses, a top and skirt/pants, or how I wore it.

daya 3

I paired the bomber with a black crop top from Charlotte Russe, black leggings from Forever 21, and black boots from Nordstrom.

Head over to dayabyzendaya.com to check out this bomber and other stylish gear!

Dressing Room Chronicles

Good morning! I hope everyone is having a fantastic week so far!dc1

My week has been extremely productive. I have been working on achieving a few of my smaller goals while getting closer to my bigger goals.

One of my goals for 2017 was to start blogging weekly and so far I can proudly say that I am meeting that expectation!

Today’s post focuses on a unique outfit I put together recently. When wearing this outfit, I went to a few different dressing rooms to see where I can get a great shot, hence the title being “Dressing Room Chronicles.”

My look: I wore a high neck, floral print, crop top from Nordstrom Rack.  A pair of gray joggers from Forever 21 and for my shoes, floral print Vans!

dc2

Wearing sneakers is definitely out of the norm for me, but the floral pattern gives the shoes a chic edge which I loved.

The joggers allowed me to stay comfortable, while the crop top let me show off my creative side and the Vans helped tie the look together…no pun intended!

I’ve always been a big fan of print mixing and matching. My crop top and shoes are floral patterned, but differ in the size of the flowers and the colors. I think that it still worked out quite nicely together!

I don’t wear makeup often, but when I do definitely make sure I put on lipstick! I wore a red lip from the Burt’s Bees collection. Also, I tried a new pose to give me a touch of street chicness to my look.

What do you all think of this look? Leave a comment below to share your opinions and have a great weekend lovelies ❤

My Princess Look ~

A couple of days ago I auditioned to be in a fashion show and I made it! The fashion show is this Saturday and it is at one of the best malls in Baltimore – Towson Town Center. tutu

A post about my fashion show and the outfits I wear will be up sometime this week, but this post is all about the outfit I wore to the audition.

I wore a burgundy cutout crop top, which I love. I think the color worked quite well with my skin complexion.

I paired the crop top with a tutu. Yes, I said it a poofy ballerina tutu. I got this tutu on sale at Charlotte Russe for just $2.99. Amazing right!?!

tutu2

The tutu is white tulle and knee length. I paired this outfit with black pointy toe flats. Together, the outfit actually looked like a dress, which is pretty awesome.

For accessories I wore rhinestone cuffed earrings and my usual pearl bracelets. Also, my fro was on full display as well ❤

I am super excited for my fashion show on Saturday and even more excited to tell all of you lovelies about it!
