Find Fun Walls

Hey hey! Hope your week is going well. Today I will be showcasing an outfit and giving a tip I learned that can help take your pictures to the next level.

My tip: find fun walls that make your outfit and picture stand out.

Walls come in all shapes and sizes. There’s the traditional stone and brick walls, but there are also walls that are colorful and highly decorated. I love finding walls that compliment my outfit.

LA has a lot of cool street art throughout the city so it’s easy to find a patterned wall to use as a background. I actually found this wall on the side of a parking garage near Melrose. I chose this wall because the red and black pattern on it was bright and looked edgy.

I wore a striped button up shirt from FashionNova that I knotted in the front and black Topshop pants. To finish off my look, I wore teal, velvet heels.

I like versatile outfits and pieces that I can rewear multiple ways. If I throw on some flats with this outfit it works for a casual, everyday look. If I button up my shirt and throw on a blazer, it’s a professional look.

What pieces do you have in your closet that you love to rewear? Where are some good picture locations in your city? Let me know in the comments below and enjoy the rest of your week!

Cherry Top and Distressed Jeans

Happy Monday! Hope your week is off to a great start.

Today, I wanted to showcase an outfit that I’m really excited about. This look is so special because this is the first time I’ve worn distressed jeans.

Growing up my mom and granny said there wasn’t a point in buying jeans with rips because I can make them holey myself, which is actually a great point when you think about it.

But with distressed jeans trending, along with the frayed/unfinished hem jeans look on the rise I had to invest in at least one cute pair.

It helped that these jeans were a $17 steal online at ASOS. I paired my jeans with a button up shirt from Topshop.

I love love love this top. It’s funny because I don’t even like cherries, but the shirt was too cute to pass up and it was on sale! To complete the look, I wore red mules, also by Topshop.

I will be getting a lot of use out of my new button-up and distressed jeans all spring and summer long. What fashion trend are you currently rocking or staying far away from?

Traveling in Time

I recently went to the cutest little vintage shop, in Downtown Frederick, called Venus on the Half Shell. When I first walked in, I felt like I stepped back in time! I-love-vintage

The store was filled with beautiful and colorful vintage clothes, accessories, and furniture.

I had a great time trying on clothes and the owner, Jennifer Stillrich, was super sweet and eager to help however she could. Stillrich opened Venus on the Half Shell with her best friend in 1996.

“We started out as a vintage furnishing shop with some vintage clothing and jewelry. The clothing took off, so we closed the shop for one week and completely revamped our business plan and store layout. After that, Venus on the Half Shell was born,” Stillrich said.

How can you make vintage clothes look fashion forward and trendy, you ask? It really isn’t a difficult task at all!

Stillrich said, “All one has to do is follow the current fashions and it’s quite apparent that the designers are mining the old fashions and reworking past styles and looks.”

All the photos of me featured in this post were taken by Jennifer! I tried on a lot of amazing items.

From the 80’s, I wore a Wilson’s black leather, crop jacket (pictured above). I loved it and looked super chic in it. It made me feel like I was on the set of “Grease“!

From the 60looking bad in vintage‘s, I wore a St. Andrews charcoal wool dress with rhinestones (pictured above). This dress was classy and timeless. The rhinestones on it were gorgeous.

This next outfit was my favorite! If I had the money, I would go back and purchase it.cute vintage

I put together a black crepe 60’s shell with fringe top, Starlight 50’s/60’s black high waist shorts, and a black floppy hat, to create this awesome vintage outfit.

Stillrich said, “Adding vintage pieces is the perfect to way to create a standout look. Plus it’s so much fun to shop for!”

I totallybuy vintage agree and I am so happy that I could stop by and try on clothes and talk with Jennifer!

P.S. Excuse the lack of shoes in some of my pictures. My feet were too big for the cute vintage shoes!
