Find Fun Walls

Hey hey! Hope your week is going well. Today I will be showcasing an outfit and giving a tip I learned that can help take your pictures to the next level.

My tip: find fun walls that make your outfit and picture stand out.

Walls come in all shapes and sizes. There’s the traditional stone and brick walls, but there are also walls that are colorful and highly decorated. I love finding walls that compliment my outfit.

LA has a lot of cool street art throughout the city so it’s easy to find a patterned wall to use as a background. I actually found this wall on the side of a parking garage near Melrose. I chose this wall because the red and black pattern on it was bright and looked edgy.

I wore a striped button up shirt from FashionNova that I knotted in the front and black Topshop pants. To finish off my look, I wore teal, velvet heels.

I like versatile outfits and pieces that I can rewear multiple ways. If I throw on some flats with this outfit it works for a casual, everyday look. If I button up my shirt and throw on a blazer, it’s a professional look.

What pieces do you have in your closet that you love to rewear? Where are some good picture locations in your city? Let me know in the comments below and enjoy the rest of your week!

What I Wore Wednesday

Happy hump day! I hope your week has been great and productive so far.

Today, I am showcasing an outfit I wore to work recently. As some of you may know, I currently work at Nordstrom and specifically in the Young Contemporary department also known as YC.

YC consists of three subcategories/brands: Savvy, Brass Plum/BP, and Topshop. Savvy has special occasion items such as dresses, jumpsuits, and blazers.

BP, a Nordstrom exclusive brand, has everyday wear such as sweaters, tshirts, blouses, and jeans. BP also carries dresses, but are more casual than the Savvy dresses.

20171127_130506

Topshop, one of my favorite brands, carries a mix of BP and Savvy-esque items. It is a trendy, low price, but high fashion brand.

Topshop carries everything from leather jackets, to sequined dresses, to embroidered jeans, to fur vests! Anything trendy and up and coming in the fashion world Topshop has.

Working in YC allows me to dress more casual than I would have to dress if I was in another department, but also allows me to be trendier. The outfit seen throughout the post definitely represents what YC is all about.

I paired a Forever 21 Rugrats bodysuit with super comfy green cropped ASOS pants. To add more color to this look and accent the colors on my bodysuit I wore a lightweight linen Halogen cardigan as a layering piece.

To wrap up my look, I paired the outfit with red TOMS. What do you think about this look? And I hope you learned something new about YC brands!

Have a wonderful rest of your week lovelies.

Happy Fri-yay! Excited for the weekend??

Im off today so I will be catching up with some friends from college, which I am excited about! Today, I am showcasing my Caslon sweatshirt dress!

20170913_100807I paired a red lip and red TOMS with the dress to give the charcoal gray a pop of color.

Ive not so secretly been obsessing over this dress ever since I saw it at Nordstrom, where I work in case ya didnt know. 🙂

20170913_100819(0)It was $79 when i first saw it which is pricey for me. Im a bargain shopper for sure.

So I patiently waited almost 2 weeks for it to go on sale. So the sale price in addition to my employee discount got me this amazing dress for only $27. A steal!!

What I love about fashion and style in particular is that you can definitely see how your style has progressed and changed over the years. As you get older and go through different stages in life your style changes and matures.

20170913_100834Im saying this because honestly a few years ago I would never have purchased and definitely not worn a dress like this. Growing up, my idea of fashion was always having to dress up and look super feminine and cute in order to be stylish.

Now I’ve learned that you can dress semi-casual or completely casual and still look flawless and fashionable. Im glad that I learned this in my late teen years because now at 22 I feel more stylish and beautiful than ever.

Remember fashion is ever changing and you can always reinvent your style. As long as you feel beautiful, wear what you want and wear what you love.

20170913_100854Have a great weekend lovelies!!

Stripes and Curves

Last weekend, I wore a striped bodycon dress to my little brother’s graduation. It was an exciting event!

I paired my bodycon dress with rust orange sandals. I love this dress because the colors are great year round and the pattern makes it unique.

Not only are those factors true, but I think the dress is quite flattering. Bodycon dresses are meant to be fitted and show off your curves.

Don’t be ashamed to wear fitted dresses and don’t let anyone tell you you can’t wear one because of your body shape!

We all have body insecurities and parts of us we may not like as much as others. Embrace your curves, love your body, and stay stylish!

The Fit of Fashion

As you all know, I currently work at Nordstrom so I decided to use clothes from my store to try on for my reason fashion assignment. The assignment: try on a number of garments ranging from pants, dresses, tops, etc. Then choose the item that fit the best and try on 3 other items that were the same size as the “perfect fit” item.

I used four different brands: Vince Camuto, Caslon, NYDJ, and Halogen. I used 4 different shirts that were all size extra small/ 0-2. All of the shirts were flared because I like that style of tops, but they all fell differently on my body.

Four fits
The grey Halogen shirt with the blue lace collar was actually too tight to get over my shoulders because it didn’t have any stretch to it, hence why its not even on in the picture!

The red Caslon tank top fit, but had no shape to it so it wasn’t very flattering. The NYDJ fruity top was more flattering than the Caslon top , but was too loose around the shoulder and neckline.

My favorite top out of the 4 and the one I believe worked the best on me was the over-sized striped Vince Camuto top. This top had the right amount of flare to it and was also flattering on my body.

It was very interesting to see how the tops were all the same size and structure but wore differently on my body. There is no right or wrong fit when it comes to fashion.

Wear what you love and feel beautiful in the clothes you put on your body!

Dressing Room Chronicles

Good morning! I hope everyone is having a fantastic week so far!dc1

My week has been extremely productive. I have been working on achieving a few of my smaller goals while getting closer to my bigger goals.

One of my goals for 2017 was to start blogging weekly and so far I can proudly say that I am meeting that expectation!

Today’s post focuses on a unique outfit I put together recently. When wearing this outfit, I went to a few different dressing rooms to see where I can get a great shot, hence the title being “Dressing Room Chronicles.”

My look: I wore a high neck, floral print, crop top from Nordstrom Rack.  A pair of gray joggers from Forever 21 and for my shoes, floral print Vans!

dc2

Wearing sneakers is definitely out of the norm for me, but the floral pattern gives the shoes a chic edge which I loved.

The joggers allowed me to stay comfortable, while the crop top let me show off my creative side and the Vans helped tie the look together…no pun intended!

I’ve always been a big fan of print mixing and matching. My crop top and shoes are floral patterned, but differ in the size of the flowers and the colors. I think that it still worked out quite nicely together!

I don’t wear makeup often, but when I do definitely make sure I put on lipstick! I wore a red lip from the Burt’s Bees collection. Also, I tried a new pose to give me a touch of street chicness to my look.

Turtlenecks & Headwraps

Some days you just want to be cozy and casual, and there is nothing wrong with that! My casual looks are still pretty stylish in my opinion, so today I am showcasing a simple, chic look. I paired a red patterned head wrap with an oversized turtleneck sweater.

Check out the look below!

Jersey Bomber Jacket

At heart, I am a total preppy, dressy, girly-girl, but every once in a while I like to step outside of the box and wear something a little more sporty.

I recently invested in a jersey bomber jacket which I love! It is a gorgeous cream color with white and black stripes on the bottom, collar, and sleeves.

I purchased this lovely jacket from a cute store called Charlotte Russe. I paired the jacket with black Calvin Klein jeans and rainbow converses…those shoes are amazing!

Korean Cap for a Casual Day

It’s been over 2 years since I went to Seoul, South Korea to study abroad and I am ashamed20160906_141143 to say I only wore this beautiful baseball cap I purchased there about 3 or 4 times since then.

But today I decided to dust it off and rock it in one of my more casual looks. I really haven’t worn the cap because I never know how to wear it!

I always dress up girly or preppy and never felt that the cap would look great with the outfits I’ve worn in the past. Recently, I went to Forever 21 and purchased 2 plain t-shirts, one olive green and one burgundy.

Once I purchased these casual tees, I knew that I could wear 20160906_141343-1my cap with one of them. My cap is white and has a floral pattern in shades of orange, red and green and the brim of it is bright orange.

I paired my cap with my olive green shirt, white high waist shorts, and dusty orange sandals. I am really proud of myself for rocking this look because I rarely ever dress casual!

I feel like this look is something I can do over and over again and not get tired of it. Not only is it simple and chic, it is also super comfy and easy to chillax in.20160906_180810

And yes, these shots in the post are shameless bathroom selfies, minus the shot of my sandals lol

My Princess Look ~

A couple of days ago I auditioned to be in a fashion show and I made it! The fashion show is this Saturday and it is at one of the best malls in Baltimore – Towson Town Center. tutu

A post about my fashion show and the outfits I wear will be up sometime this week, but this post is all about the outfit I wore to the audition.

I wore a burgundy cutout crop top, which I love. I think the color worked quite well with my skin complexion.

I paired the crop top with a tutu. Yes, I said it a poofy ballerina tutu. I got this tutu on sale at Charlotte Russe for just $2.99. Amazing right!?!

tutu2

The tutu is white tulle and knee length. I paired this outfit with black pointy toe flats. Together, the outfit actually looked like a dress, which is pretty awesome.

For accessories I wore rhinestone cuffed earrings and my usual pearl bracelets. Also, my fro was on full display as well ❤

I am super excited for my fashion show on Saturday and even more excited to tell all of you lovelies about it!
