Now for my outfit! I wore a white Misguided blazer dress which I adored.

The dress had gold buttons which popped against the crisp white dress. I paired this look with pearl bracelets and earrings, MAC lipstick, and my red Topshop mules.

Parsons x Teen Vogue Assignment: Bracelet DIY!

For almost a full year now I have been taking an online fashion course ran by Parsons- The New School for Design and Teen Vogue! One of my assignments was to design a possible product and calculate the cost to make it, profit, and the retail value for it.

My design:  Updated bracelet

I decided to take my old pearl bracelet and give it a modern twist. I wrapped ribbon around the bracelet in a slightly overlapping pattern and then sealed the ribbon around the bracelet using glue. I didn’t realize that my product was slightly expensive to make!

Original Ribbon Bracelet Idea

One roll of ribbon $3.00
Bracelet $5.00
Superglue $4.25
.5 @ $10 $5.00
Total Production Cost $17.25
20% profit $3.45
Total Cost Plus Profit $20.70
Estimated Retail Price $24.00

Improved Ribbon Bracelet Idea

One roll of ribbon (from Amazon) $1.50
Bracelet (cheaper material such as plastic band) $2.50
Krazy Glue $3.00
.33 @ $10 $3.30
Total Production Cost $10.30
20% profit $2.06
Total Cost Plus Profit $12.36
Estimated Retail Price $24.00

I never was a big fan of math in school, but learning how to calculate product costs and my profit was interesting and fun. Now, I can say I know how to calculate those details if I decide to start my own business or assist friends and family members with their ideas. I also liked trying to figure out how to cut costs in order to save money, but still profit! Using a different type of glue and using a different product underneath the ribbon cut the cost dramatically.

Try it out with your own DIY products! Tell me in the comments all about your item, the cost, and any additional info you would like to share 🙂

New Twists, Old Romper

Good morning beautiful people ❤IMG_20160609_132626

It finally seems like the warm weather is here to stay in Baltimore! I recently got twists in my hair as a protective style to help my hair grow.

On the first of August or the end of July I will take them out and hopefully my fro will have grown a lot.

Since the weather is so pretty, I decided to wear one of y favorite clothing items, my lightweight blue and white patterned romper.

IMG_20160609_141204The romper is not only stylish and comfortable, it is also really cool so I do not overheat while wearing it even if the sun is shining down on me. I paired my romper with black sandals and my usual pearl bracelets.

In one photo I am in front of a big bush with beautiful pink flowers and in the other picture posted I am in my friend’s room, trying to do a model-esque shot 🙂

I hope you are enjoying the weather wherever you are. Remember to keep your head held high and stay positive! ❤

Work Selfie

IMG_20160509_161805Hello everyone! I hope you all are having a great week.

So, like most people, I spend a lot of my time at work. I work as a hostess in a restaurant located in one of the many Four Seasons Hotel.

I really enjoy my job because I love interacting with guests and having conversations with them.

I also get my exercise by walking guests to their seats lol 🙂 I’ve hosted in a few different restaurants but this job is the first one that actually gave me a uniform/dress to wear…pretty cool!IMG_20160406_110611.jpg

I wear a black fit and flare dress with ruffles on the bottom
of the dress, along with black flats.

I usually add accessories to the dress since it is a simple look. In this picture I am wearing pearl bracelets, and a sparkly statement necklace.

I hope you liked this peek into my work wardrobe. Have a wonderful  rest of the week my loves ❤

21st Birthday!

Yesterday was my 21st birthday!!! I am blessed to see and be able to celebrate 21 years 🙂

I had a busy and fun day! And I wore a super classy outfit which will be pictured throughout this post ❤puffie

My lovely boyfriend and I went on a date to a cute and cozy restaurant in Downtown Frederick, Maryland called Pizza & Pretzel Creations or better known as Pizza Pretzels.

Pizza Pretzel is known for making all of their pizzas with pretzel dough instead of normal dough. It is delicious!

My boyfriend and I ordered a pizza, one cinnamon and sugar pretzel, one butter pretzel, birch beer, and orange juice. After our meal we then went on a little walk.

It was a chilly and cloudy day, but still a wonderful day. We walked along Carrol Creek and stopped to take pictures.
Speaking of taking pictures, I have to mention what I wore! I wore a grayish blue long sleeved ribbed dress and paired it with cute black Steve Madden flats.

puffFor my accessories I wore long drop down earrings, a pearl necklace, and pearl bracelets. In case you didn’t know…I love pearls!!!

I also took out my braid extensions this past Sunday so I was rocking my beautiful Afro on my birthday!

Back to the story now ^-^ After our walk up the creek and mini photo shoot, we went to the library. The library was super warm which was great since it was so chilly outside.

We stayed in the library for about an hour and a half, relaxing, reading magazines and books and just enjoying spending time with each other.

After visiting the library we headed back to my school because I had to go to my sign language class. After class, my boyfriend, roommate, a few friends, and I went out to Fridays to eat, drink, and celebrate my birthday!

It was a relaxing and fun birthday. And how awesome is it that this is my 60th blog post!!! ❤

Have a lovely rest of your week everyone xoxo

Tribal Print & Black

This past weekend was a much needed mid-semester break from school. I had a 5 day break where I was able to leave my college and go home to visit my family and boyfriend.

Over the break I went to church and had an awesome time! This post is about the outfit I wore there.

I still have my long Marley twists in my hair, but I decided to change it up a bit. I decided to pull it back into a half ponytail and half down style.

I love using my clothing for multiple purposes. For example, this tribal print shirt is actually a bodycon dress that I rolled up to look like a shirt.tribe

I paired my tribal print piece with a black asymmetrical skirt. I love this skirt!

It’s my first asymmetrical piece and I just love the cut and how it looks on me.

I paired this outfit with black booties, black and pearl earrings, and pearl bracelets. I also wore light brown lipstick!

This was a chic and comfy fall look perfect for day and night

What are some of your clothing items that can be used in different ways? Do you have any asymmetrical items?

I hope you lovelies have a great weekend! ❤ ❤

A Look Back

I can’t believe it’s been three years since I graduated high schoolgrad! It really doesn’t seem that long!

Since my official three year grad-anniversary was two days ago, I would love to share my graduation dress with all of my lovely readers.

I wore a white mermaid gown with ruching along the torso and down to my thighs. The bottom flared out like a mermaids tail and lightly touched the ground as I walked.

grad3On the side of it was a small flower and I paired this dress with white pointy toe heels, a pearl and silver necklace, and a pearl bracelet.

Also my hair has totally changed since these pictures. That was the first and only time ever dyed my hair and I was not natural at the time.

That style is called finger waves and now three years later I am natural and back to my normal hair color.
grad2
As you can see from my pictures, walking down the aisle to get me diploma really made me nervous. I was nervous about everyone taking my picture and I was also trying to focus on not tripping and falling!

Overall I loved my graduation dress and that day three years ago was super amazing!

What type of gown or dress did you wear on your high school graduation? I’m sure it was beautiful ❤

Happy Mother’s Day!

Happy sunny, beautiful Mother’s Day to all of the natural and spiritual memothers! I hope you all enjoy your day ❤

I want to thank all of my fellow women fashion bloggers who support my still fairly new blog and encourage me everyday to continue writing ^-^

I wanted to show all of you lovely readers my Mother’s Day outfit!

Today I wore a fitted sea foam green dress with a peplum-esque style on the sides. This is one of my favorite dresses and it only comes out on special occasions 🙂

I paired myme 2 dress with a big floppy straw hat with a black band around it. I also wore my newly purchased, black gladiator sandals which I am in love it!

For my accessories, of course, I wore my pearls! I wore a pearl necklace, pearl bracelets, and pearl earrings.

Overall, I think this outfit is very simple and chic, but also has a nice formal and classy touch to it.

Whatever you lovely ladies decide to do on this day, I hope you have a great time!

Boho Chic

Happy May everyone! The weather is gorgeous here in Maryland!

bohoI can finally lose all of those layers! Next week is final exam week and on Tuesday I am out for my summer break! I am so excited 🙂

It is also supposed to be in the 80’s next week so I am looking forward to that as well ❤

This outfit is inspired by the lovely weather and imagining I am on a lovely tropical beach.

My boho chic outfit comes in many parts. The multicolored pattern skirt I am wearing is actually a dress.

boho chicI rolled the uppermost part of the dress down and tucked it behind my woven brown belt. I then paired my new skirt with a denim and lace button up shirt.

I tucked my shirt in my skirt and viola, a stylish boho chic outfit. I paired this outfit with blue lace TOMS.

I wore my hair in my wavy hairstyle and added a silver studded headband to it for a touch of sparkle!

You all know I love my pearls, so I wore a pearl necklace, pearl bracelets, and pearl earrings with this outfit.
