Find Fun Walls

Hey hey! Hope your week is going well. Today I will be showcasing an outfit and giving a tip I learned that can help take your pictures to the next level.

My tip: find fun walls that make your outfit and picture stand out.

Walls come in all shapes and sizes. There’s the traditional stone and brick walls, but there are also walls that are colorful and highly decorated. I love finding walls that compliment my outfit.

LA has a lot of cool street art throughout the city so it’s easy to find a patterned wall to use as a background. I actually found this wall on the side of a parking garage near Melrose. I chose this wall because the red and black pattern on it was bright and looked edgy.

I wore a striped button up shirt from FashionNova that I knotted in the front and black Topshop pants. To finish off my look, I wore teal, velvet heels.

I like versatile outfits and pieces that I can rewear multiple ways. If I throw on some flats with this outfit it works for a casual, everyday look. If I button up my shirt and throw on a blazer, it’s a professional look.

What pieces do you have in your closet that you love to rewear? Where are some good picture locations in your city? Let me know in the comments below and enjoy the rest of your week!

#OOTD

Hey hey!

This #ootd is actually from my birthday which was November 18th, but life has been a little busy since then with Thanksgiving and flying back home to Maryland from LA to visit my family! 🙂

20181118_131013

I don’t have many pictures from visiting my family because I was trying to focus on spending time with everyone and staying disconnected from social media as much as I could.

I did however take a lot of pictures on my birthday so I hope you like my outfit pictured throughout this post!

20181118_130730

This dress was actually given to me by one of my previous coworkers…thanks Kelly! It fits great and it is super flattering.

I got my blue heels from Macys last year for my birthday and I thought that it would be a cool tradition to wear them every year on my birthday until I forget or outgrow them lol.

20181118_130819

On my birthday, Shawn and I just went to the movies and out to eat at a restaurant called Sizzler. Have any of you eaten there before? It was yummy!

I am blessed to see another year and sorry for the late post showcasing this outfit, but let me know in the comments below if you like it! Enjoy your week lovelies!

Acknowledge your Glow Up!

Happy Thursday lovelies, I hope your week has been great so far.

It’s Day 29 of Motivational March and if you follow me on Instagram at Coralbuttons, you already know what the goal for today is, but if not here it is: Acknowledge your Glow Up! (Hence the title 😄)

If you don’t know what I mean by that, no worries, I’ll explain!

20180328_093435

I posted the picture above on IG to show how I changed over the last four years and to acknowledge my glow up. Urban dictionary defines the term “glow up” as: “To go from the bottom to the top to the point of disbelief. An incredible transformation.”

Not saying I was at rock bottom in 2014, but I wasn’t as healthy or confident then. I just big chopped and that was the shortest my hair had ever been so I was adjusting to that and I was in college stressed about everything.

My style was still evolving and changing and my eating habits weren’t the best. This year, I’m happier, more positive and healthier.

My confidence is boosted because I practice self-love and self-care a lot more. “Positive” is a word that comes out of my mouth on the regular because I surround myself around positive people, do things beneficial for my life, relationship, and career, and make sure to take time to just sit and be happy.

In four years, I graduated college, continued my relationship with my highschool sweetheart and moved across the country from Baltimore to Los Angeles. It’s not about bragging about your accomplishments, it’s about recognizing how much you’ve grown!

Take time to acknowledge your glow up today. You are amazing!

Spring is here! 🌻

Happy second day of spring everyone!

Spring is my favorite season because everything is starting to blossom and grow after a long winter. We get to see flowers and trees full of life and birds and bugs enjoying nature.

20180320_095048

Continuing with my color for 2018, I wore a ruched, olive dress that I purchased from Nordstrom and paired it with black heeled sandals I got from Nordstrom Rack.

The dress is currently on sale for only $23.40 and comes in burgundy, black, gray, pink, and olive like I’m wearing. You can shop for it here!

20180320_095007

I love this dress because it is very figure flattering and lightweight, perfect for cool, spring days.

Back home on the east coast my friends and family are experiencing a snowy spring day. In LA, we are getting ready for spring showers.

20180320_094954

As you already know, I love the rain, but a lot of people see rainy days as gloomy days. Since LA and California overall is pretty dry, it will be nice to get some rain showers, especially since rain is essential for the beautiful spring flowers to bloom!

Recently, I’ve been loving the ruched dress and ruched top trend. It’s a slimming silhouette that flatters every body shape.

How do you feel about the wrap trend? How do you like to wear it? Shirts, bikini tops, dresses?

Let me know in the comments below. Also, I hope Motivational March is still going well for everyone!

For day 2 of spring and day 21 of Motivational March here’s an encouraging quote from an amazing role model, Michelle Obama: “We need to do a better job of putting ourselves higher on our own ‘to do’ list.” Remember to take time today to show yourself some TLC. #selfcare #selflove

Enjoy the rest of your week lovelies!

Be Happy!

Hope you all had a great weekend!

20180304_102455(1)

Today is Day 4 of Motivational March and my goals for today were simply be happy and smile often.

Somtimes we get too caught up in the negative or superficial aspects of our lives and we don’t appreciate the simple things.

20180304_102248(0)

I recently purchased this Topshop shirt that has rainbow stripes and the words “Be Happy” on it.

This was a great investment for me because it’s a reminder that everything is going to be ok and that I need to take things one day at a time.

20180304_102314

I paired my shirt with simple black leggings and teal Vince Camuto chunky heels.

Let my #ootd be an inspiration to you this week. Be Happy!

Stay tuned for more Motivational March posts and let me know in the comments below if you are down to take the challenge as well.

First birthday living in Los Angeles!

My big goal for 2017 has finally been revealed on Coral Buttons…moving to Los Angeles!

20171118_111814(0)

Moving to LA has been the “big goal of 2017” I’ve hinted at on the blog many times before. I’ve been living in LA for almost a month now and I felt that my first birthday celebration here would be a great post to start my weekly posts again with.

I turned 23 yesterday and I went to the movies and out to eat with my boyfriend, Shawn then relaxed for the rest of the day. I wore a sparkly corset back dress with velvet teal (my fave color) heels!

20171118_112020

Yesterday, I also thought about all the goals and tasks I accomplished in just 23 years. Sometimes it is easy to get discouraged and compare yourself to others who may seem like they are doing better than you financially, career-wise, etc.

You have to take a step back and look at everything you’ve done and you will realize you are doing a better than you think.

20171118_150918

So thats what I did, so here is a top 5 list of accomplishments I should be proud to have achieved in 23 years:

1) Traveled to Kauai, Hawaii and Seoul, South Korea

2) Been in a happy and healthy relationship for almost 6 years

3) Graduated high school and college (a semester early)

4) Big chopped and now have healthy natural hair

5) Moved to Los Angeles of course!

Now it’s your turn! Take a look back over the years and write a list of what you are proud of yourself for achieving. This will boost your confidence and help you realize you are on the right track.

I’m already excited for my next birthday to see what I achieved in one year! Happy Sunday lovelies.

22nd Birthday Post

Hello everyone and Happy Holidays!

Last Friday, I celebrated my 22nd birthday! Yay! This year is special because I have big
things planned in regards to my future, life goals, and career goals.

Because of all of the exciting things I have planned for the year to come I am dubbing it: Year of Change ❤

Stay tuned for the amazing things to come 🙂 Now back to my birthday lol…

My lovely boyfriend Shawn and I had an exciting day. We first went to the National Aquarium where neither of us has been in over 10 years.

The aquarium had 3 new exhibits: Australia, Rain Forest, and Jellyfish exhibits. My favorite was the jellyfish exhibit where I found my new favorite sea creature, the Blue Blubber Jelly.

They are super cute! From the aquarium, we went to Kona Grill, an Asian and all things grilled. The food was delicious.

Then we ended the night with a comedy magic show at Illusions Bar and Lounge which was hilarious and very entertaining. Overall it was a great birthday and I loved my outfit. Get the look details below!

Orange jumpsuit: Windsor Store ($30)
Green Heels: Nordstrom Rack (on sale for $25) (plus my employee discount lol)

PS: My hair is also totally different! Post about this new look coming soon *hugs and kisses*

Happy Holidays!!!

Sweater Dress Selfie

Two weekends ago my roommate, a friend of ours, our friend’s roommate, and I went to a Halloween dance on my college campus.sweater dress

It was quite chilly that night so instead of wearing costumes for the dance, we all thought it would be cool to wear super classy sweater dresses with heels. I must admit, we looked great!

In this post is two of my favorite “sweater dress selfies” from that night. I purchased this lovely sweater dress from a cute store called Strawberry.
sweater d2The dress is a deep burgundy color with a silver zipper. It is long sleeve and went a little past my knees and cinched in a bit there.

I love this dress because it is very slimming and super warm. Perfect for a fall night out or even a date night dinner with your significant other.

I paired my sweater dress with black ankle booties. Since the dress is so long, I figured shoes or heels that stopped at my ankle would be perfect.

I still have my long Marley twists in my hair as well. I styled them in a big half bun half down up do.

I also wore small black earrings and light lip gloss to finish off the look. It was a great night and I was not only super stylish, but also warm and cozy!

Have a fantastic week everyone. Stay beautiful! ❤

Prom Season

Prom photos are appearing all over my social media accounts,keep-calm-it-s-prom-season so it is easy to say that it is prom season. I can’t believe that my own prom was just three years ago!

It is surreal to think that three years ago was my senior prom and in just one year I will be graduating college. Life is truly amazing ❤

In this post I wanted to show my lovely readers my chic prom look. It was an adventure finding my prom dress because I looked in at least 5 to 6 different place for my dress.

I didn’t really know what style of dress I wanted, but I knew I wanted it to be blue or teal specifically since that is my favorite color. At one place I found a beautiful high-low, feathery light blue dress but it was wayyyy overpriced ($600 to be exact!).

prom2So I left the lovely feather dress behind and looked elsewhere. I went to a popular mall in my area and stumbled upon a store named Pretty Woman, which had dresses for all occasions.

I went in and found a gorgeous dress, my only problem with it was that it was black! I really didn’t want to wear black on my prom night, so I asked the owner if she could get the same dress in teal and that is how I found the gorgeous dress I wore to prom. (and it was only $80!)

My dress was a teal halter top A-line gown with rhinestones lined down the middle of it. It was ruched at the torso area and was floor length.

I paired the dress with dangling silver studded earrings, a lipromght blue and white corsage, and silver heels. My prom date, who is also my lovely boyfriend, matched me perfectly and I was super worried about matching because he hadn’t seen my dress until the day of prom!

He wore a teal button up shirt with a blue and white tie, a white vest, white dress pants, and sleek white dress shoes. Prom was a lot of fun and all of my classmates looked beautiful and handsome.

Prom was probably one of my most fashionable days ever lol ^-^

Easter Outfit

I know that I am a few days late, but I just had to show my lovely readers my Easter/Resurrection Sunday outfit!eggs

This Easter was the first time in almost three years where I could actually be home from college for the holiday. That was super exciting!

I got to go home to my church I grew up in and had an awesome message from the pastor. My boyfriend, who isn’t big on religion, even came with me to church as well, so that was sweet.

Now back to my outfit info! I actually didn’t find my Easter outfit until the Friday and Saturday before Easter. Friday, after my Passover service, my family and I went to Wal-Mart and that is where I found the skirt I wore.

On Saturday, my boyfriend and I went to one of our favorite malls and I found the shirt I wore. I had my heels for a while now because they are the same ones I wore for my high school graduation.

Outfit details ~

I wore a floral patterned lace crop top with a slight high neck. I didn’t know that it was a crop top until I actually tried it on, but I loved the top so much that I had to buy it.

I paired the lace top with a mint colored tribal patterned skirt. The skirt has a high slit in it, but doesn’t show too much!

Since my shirt was a crop top, I decided to pull the skirt up and wear it as a high-waist skirt. I paired the skirt and top with heels with a small bow on the front of them.

I really adore this outfit and it was super affordable. In total my outfit only cost $21!

How was your Easter everyone and what cute clothes did you wear? ❤ ❤
